Absolutely not! All MGA events are open to players from all backgrounds regardless of religion, ethnicity or nationality. MGA events are held upon basic Islamic values hence there will be no alcohol or gambling involved, and prayer arrangements will be made. We ask all our participants to respect these guidelines.
We welcome all participants with or without a handicap. To win the placed prizes, you must have an official competition CONGU handicap (this will be indicated by a small C after your handicap). If you don’t have an official competition handicap you can play your playing handicap or get a Golfshake handicap (https://www.golfshake.com/golfhandicap/ )for free and participate in the Golfshake competition. If you don’t want to do that, participate just for fun. We verify handicaps of prize winners through our access to central handicap databases for the respective unions, where all CONGU handicaps are logged.
Yes! You can join as a single golfer – just change the quantity to 1 when you book, we will then pair you up before we draw tee times. We anticipate many single golfers participation in this competition.
There will be prizes for 1st & 2nd place on offer in each respected handicap division for players with an official CONGU handicap. A single 1st place prize will be offered to the winner with a Non compeition/GOLFSHAKE handicap.
There may also be a nearest to the Pin and Longest drive prize on the final day.
You will be drawn with players who have a similar handicap to yours. This is to create a competitive environment but also a great chance to meet & network with players of similar ability and test yourself against others.
Course itinerary and playing schedule for both days will be sent up to 1 week in advance. This will be done on a random basis.
On Sunday 25th (Day 1) we will look to tee off at around 10am. This will be a rolling start throughout the day. On Monday (Day 2) we will be having a SHOTGUN start on both courses and expect to finish around the same time for the prize-giving ceremony & lunch. Tee times are released 1-2 weeks before the competition. Once they are released we will notify you by email. If you wish to advise us of a tee time preference you must do this in the user registration form you are emailed ahead of the competition.
There is no handicap limit in any of our competitions since we are inclusive of all golfing abilities and rely on the integrity of the handicap system to ensure a fair competition.
Mandatory pick up when not scoring, penalties in place for not keeping up with the group in front, marshalls on the course and a starter on the course managing first tee are some of the things we do. However, we rely on every golfer to act responsibly and be ready to play.
No – all putts must be holed out.
The rooms are based on a Twin/Double sharing option. You can book the room with single occupancy (so you share with no-one) but there is a £50 extra charge.
We encourage you to book with a friend so you can share the room together, this is the most cost-effective price. If you don’t have someone to share with but are happy sharing a room you also have that option.
